A viral marketing campaign Case Study

We had a good laugh last Saturday afternoon watching the video made at tackfilm website. In two minutes, the video almost convinced myself of being Sweden’s hero.

Staring in a Swedish film, it takes about two minutes and makes you look like a global hero in a professionally made video. All you need to do is to upload a photo or make a photo with your webcam. Then, you would make several stunning appearances in the auto-generated video, being introduced as a hero.

“tack” means thank you in Swedish – this site is thanking Swedish citizens for paying their broadcasting fees. It’s a very good viral marketing; it’s cool, funny, interesting, and most importantly it’s viral and engaging. Tic Tac viral marketing campaign is also very good and viral but not as engaging.

“Tackfilm”campaign also allows easy sharing, which is critical in a viral marketing campaign.

It’ll be great if it integrates YouTube API to allow direct upload to YouTube website.

What makes a good viral marketing campaign? A successful viral marketing campaign makes people feel something (interesting, hatred, love, fun, cool, …); it engages people; and it allows people to share it easily.
