Where Are Talkers for Your Word-of-Mouth Marketing?

by Rocky Fu on April 7, 2009

Every successful Word-of-Mouth (WOM) campaign starts with the right talkers. Here are five common types of talkers:

  • Your happy customers. There are the people who love to share the happiness from using your products or service with their friends. Happy customers are different from satisfied customers. Happy customers are more likely to share than satisfied customers. They are the people who fill in feedback form, comments cards; sign up for newsletters.
  • Those who come back to your store very often and/or who visit your sites often. Use web analytics to track those who often come back and give them the opportunity to share first hand information about your new product launch.
  • Those who share online in their blogs / twitters / Facebook how great your products are. The simplest thing you can do is to sign up Google Alerts to receive update whenever your products/brands are mentioned.
  • Those who stick your logos on their computer, bookshelf, mirrors, bags, and etc.
  • Your employees. Provide your eager employees resources so that they can share with their friends about your great products/service.

Under the current downturn economy, your campaigns need focus. These five types of talkers should be your target for word-of-mouth campaigns.
