NetEase 163 Announces Unlimited Email Service To Compete With Yahoo China

Aftter Yahoo China’s plan for unlimited email storage in this coming October (source: ChinaByte), NetEase announced its plan of unlimited email storage yesterday in Beijing, whose email storage is already up to 3G. Unlimited plan would apply to all its email services; in addition, NetEase plans to provide free email arrival notification via SMS to some loyal customers.

NetEase currently has 3 branded email services 163.com, 126.com, and yeah.net with total number of registered users of about 220 million. It works with Kaspersky Lab for its anti-spam and anti-virus services.

NetEase is a Chinese Internet company that operates a popular portal 163.com. The website was launched as netease.com which later on changed to 163.com to make the domain name easier to remember.
