by Rocky Fu on January 15, 2009

When I woke up last Wednesday, I got a stiff neck; shit, it hurt. Yes, shit happens! When we live in the digital world, we always need to back up. Let me show you three ways to easily backup Twitter, which require little technical skills.

  1. TwitterSafe. It claims to be your “One-Click Backup and Restoration Vault!”
    1. Login Using Your Twitter Username/Password
    2. Click Back-Up to Save Your Twitter Followers
    3. Download EXCEL Report (Hard Copy) of Your Followers
  2. Tweetake. Also very easy to use; simply fill in your username and password to back up your Followers, Friends, Favorites, Your Tweets, Direct Messages, or Everything
  3. Direct download/backup. (credit: Sprechblase)
    1. Download followers via this link (twitter.com/statuses/followers.xml, need ID and password). If you have too many, you need download more than 1 page:twitter.com/statuses/followers.xml?page=2
    2. Friends via this link: twitter.com/statuses/friends.xml

The reason you download Twitter is not just for backup; unleash your creativity to dig a bit deeper into the data.
