There are already 6.7 million .cn domains registered, which is more than the number of .com domains registered in China. And, China is expecting over 10 million .cn domains registered in a couple of years ahead.
Not a surprise to me. when I registered a .cn domain two years ago, it wasn’t that easy. You had to be a company to register a .cn domain and you need to submit your license details for approval.
Now, you can register with a non-China domain seller like namecheap. Besides, China web hosting companies and domain sellers are selling .cn domains at a very low price (it was once as low as free or 1 Chinese yuan, a little more than 10 US cents).
